Dr. Lissa Kam

Dr. Kam has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 30 years. She graduated from Colorado State University with a veterinary degree in 1984. Knowing that Hawaii was her home, and where she wanted to practice, she moved back to the islands after graduating. On May 13, 1996, Dr. Kam had the good fortune of being able to open Ohana Veterinary Hospital.

Although most of Dr. Kam’s time is dedicated to Ohana Veterinary Hospital, she is not short of energy or interests. She was the first woman President of the Hawaii Veterinary Medical Association and the Honolulu Veterinary Society. For over 30 years, she has successfully chaired and organized the annual Hawaii Pet Expo and raised sizable donations for the Hawaii Food Bank. When time allows, Dr. Kam enjoys ikebana, where her colorful floral arrangements decorate her home and her pet hospital. She continues to have a menagerie of her own pets which include 2 guinea pigs and a very rambunctious Jack Russell mix named Rosco. Dr. Kam also fosters guinea pigs for the Humane Society when they need some extra nursing care before adoption.
